Lizzo's "Rumors" Reaction

The artist and three-time Grammy winner, Lizzo, released a new hit single last week called “Rumors” featuring Cardi B, complete with a music video. Although she had accumulated many fans, she’s been getting a lot of haters too - haters she’s called racists and body-shamers who’ve called her "Mammy," commented on her long nails, her body weight and her showing what they consider “too much skin” for a “big girl”. On Sunday, Lizzo went live on Instagram to address the negative comments and she broke down and cried revealing, “Sometimes I feel like the world just don’t love me back. It’s like, it doesn’t matter how much positive energy you put into the world. You’re still going to have people who have something mean to say about you.”

We all know that in life, there will always be those who will root for your failure. The important thing is to develop self love and tap into the confidence that it provides. Lizzo also came to that realization on the IG Live session. She cried and then wiped away her tears and said to the haters, “I don’t have time for your negativity, your internalized self-hatred that you project onto me with your racism and your fat-phobia. I don’t have time for it,” she said. “Anyways, Imma continue to be me.” She expressed that she’d continue to make music, make money, and encouraged her viewers to stream ‘Rumors. It’s received over 10 million views. Watch the music video here.

Cardi B responded in support of her fellow artist in a tweet, referring to the haters as “nerds watching the popular table.” We’ve got to give her credit. Lizzo is all about positive energy, positive body image , and self love. Perhaps the most motivational part of her recent IG Live conversation was when she said she’s no longer going to read negative comments.

We want to hear from you. What do you think? Do negative comments deserve attention?

We'll talk all about it on tonight's show. Listen Live to E-Dubz and Dee Queen every Tuesday night from 8pm-9pm EDT on CincyUnderground.com
