At Cincy Underground we understand the significance of representation as a minority. It is imperative that minority youth also see people that look like them in the media. Today, many authors are beginning to create more books for minority children. Growing up as a minority we rarely saw ourselves in the media and how we were portrayed. Allowing children to read literature that represents their diversity is important because it empowers them. Another thing that makes this so important are children's worldviews are expanded by seeing and sharing other diversities represented within these books.
We hope that this is as meaningful and special to others as it is for us! Cincy Underground recognizes the importance of diversity and representation. We have also found a few websites that offer children's books for minorities. We hope that you enjoy and are able to find some books for you and your child(ren).
